.. All the rooms are different, and all are stylishly furnished with antique pieces which have belonged to the palazzo for generations and generations. The wrought-iron beds alternate with inlaid bed-heads in solid wood, while mirrors and paintings make every corner unique. Then there are the wardrobes, the stoves, the writing-desks; every object here speaks the by-now forgotten language of beauty and courtesy.

Annalena What we know of her is that she fell in love with Baldaccio di Bicci dei medici, who returned her love and married her with great pomop in 1439. After two years of bliss and the birth of their son, Guido, Annalena's beauty aroused the deisre of Bartolomeo Orlandini, who upon the lady's refusal ordered the treachcous murder, first of Baldaccio, and then of the little Guido himself.

Annalena, alone and heartroken, trasformed her dweling into aconvent whics was to take her name. The history of the Pensione Annalena During the fourieenth century the palazzo was trasformed into the convento of Annalena. Later under the rule of Dominican Orden it operated as a hospice for young widows, and in 1880 it was trasformed into a school for young Ladies. Only in 1919 did Annalena's maison finally become a Pensione and a point of reference for travellers and foreigners.
